The SUT was founded to promote the further understanding of the underwater environment and to encourage cross-fertilization and dissemination of ideas, experience and information between workers in academic research, applied research and technology, industry and government development of techniques and tools to explore and study oceans, proper economic and sociological use of our resources in and beneath the oceans further education of scientists and technologists to maintain high standards in marine science and technology.This multi-disciplinary learned Society brings together organizations and individuals with a common interest in underwater technology, ocean science and offshore engineering.

The SUT Young Professionals Chapter began in June of 2007.
The YP Networking events are held
the second Wednesday of every other month
at Yard House, City Centre
5:30 - 8:30.
There are several benefits to becoming an SUT YP . These advantages include:networking with other young professionals to increase personal growth in an innovative industry, increase potential business connections, build relationships and increase company recognition.
The SUT aims to facilitate the advancement of young professionals in the energy industry through social and educational events.
With SUT Young Professionals, you will have ample opportunities for networking with industry leaders. Also, you will have the opportunity to learn from other young professionals experiences, share ideas and discuss industry knowledge. You may participate in learning luncheons, scholarship fundraising events and various other networking functions.
